- The Toledo Region has three hospital/centers designated as Level 1 trauma centers— Mercy St. Vincent’s Medical Center, ProMedica Toledo Hospital, and The University of Toledo Medical Center—and two advanced pediatric care centers.
- Mercy's Life Flight has been serving the Toledo Region and beyond for more than 33 years. It was the 17th such program when the service began in 1979. Today, Mercy has five bases throughout Northwest Ohio and operates two types of aircraft.
- Blanchard Valley Hospital has been ranked #1 in Ohio for overall orthopedic services and five-star rated for cardiology services by HealthGrades.
- The University of Toledo Medical Center is named #1 in the region by US News and World Reports.
- Mercy is the first and only local breast center accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. It is the only health system in the Toledo Region to offer 3D mammography, the newest and most advanced technology in breast imaging. .
- ProMedica Toledo Hospital has been certified as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission.
- In 2011 UTMC ranked 9th out of 124 academic medical centers nationwide in Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP) measures according to The Hospital Quality Measures Report. SCIP measures are based on practices and policies that decrease the risk of complications, such as infections, blood clots and other conditions that can negatively affect the outcomes of surgical patients.
